![]() ![]() especially playing reactive, cooldown management, dodging a lot of damage and especially dodging cc is my key. However, the skill set of the monk allows for different play styles, which, with a lot of practice and understanding of the game, with enough class understanding and a sense of timing/positioning + concentration, can compensate for (very) big disadvantages. it's difficult to play consistently effectively. for monk (especially under res average !!!!) the skill floor is high, but so is the skill ceiling -> if not the highest currently ingame. I've been playing since release with less than 3k res consistently below the res average of my lobbies - and doing pretty well, I'd say (3.5k games, 63% total winrate). If you’re seeing a lot of higher res players in your lobbies you can go full support and make them unstoppable- I’ve had up to 40 assists in one game by just buddying up and shepherding my dps Unless you’re going for an assassin build on squishies your scoreboard will probably suffer, but once you get the hang of things you’ll win a lot more games by just being able to lock down objectives. ![]() My secondary attributes are dogshit (~800-1000) so I’m in the process of boosting them to be more impactful, but I’ve seen ~3k res monks perform really well against 7k+ whales. I mostly come up against 4-6k players and can survive toe-to-toe if I’m careful, but I’m not good enough to do much against the really big res boys. Across both pvp and pve you can mix and match to find new and fun ways to be impactful that I just didn’t find on necro. I’m really enjoying monk though- when you compare it with necro you have a lot more diversity in the way you can play and what essences/skills you can bring to the party. ![]() Monk can also do these things, but you have to get in the thick of things to achieve it, it’s a completely different playstyle. Necro is far and above easier to be more impactful against higher res players- the range and quick cast of cc abilities means you can support and output heaps of damage with relatively low risk. From my experience at 3k coming from necro-monk: ![]()
